Runningco.com says: In 2006, Highland narrowly qualified for the Group 3 state meet, finishing one point ahead of Triton for fifth place at South Jersey Group 3 sectionals. Once at the state meet, the Tartans finished 11th. If this 2007 group races like it’s capable of, Highland will finish much higher at both meets. The Tartans will be very competitive at major meets this season as they return six runners from last year’s top seven, including senior J.J. Caffarelli, junior Kyle Gorczynski and senior Brian Wirtz, the team’s 1-2-3 runners from last fall. After those three, coach Bill Collins will depend on senior Matt McDevitt, junior Krishna Prabakaran, senior Andrew Ellenberg and freshman Jake Brown. This team should be able to edge Kingsway for the Tri-County title and should also be a serious contender for the sectional title.
