Bulldawgs earn ‘A’ race title at Eastern States Championships

In a meeting between two of the top teams in New Jersey, the Haddonfield High School girls’ cross country team, ranked No. 2 in runningco.com’s Top 20, edged Red Bank Catholic 36-38 on Saturday to win the “A” race at the Eastern States Championships, held at the historic Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

The Bulldawgs kept their undefeated season going as they took places 2, 5, 8, 9 and 12. Red Bank grabbed places 4, 6, 7, 10 and 11.

Haddonfield’s five-girl spread was 1:05.

Leading the way once again for the Bulldawgs was sophomore Marielle Hall, who was second overall in 15:36. Winning the individual title in 15:12.24 was Randolph’s Joelle Amarel.

In after Hall were Allysa D’Orazio (fifth, 16:15), Jackie Sikkema (eighth, 16:30), Monica Ramstad (ninth, 16:31) and Lizzy Sikkema (12th, 16:41).
